Debra Kaye Downey

Debra Kaye Downey, 66, of Corydon, Indiana, died Thursday, February 26, 2026, at her home in Corydon.  She was born October 30, 1959 in Ludington, Michigan.  She worked at Smokey’s Discount Tobacco Outlet in Corydon and was formerly employed at Colonial Lanes Bowling Center in Corydon.  Debra loved baking, collecting rocks and soil from her travels, and was a spirited Yahtzee player.

She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Vanas; and her children’s father, Kenneth Downey.

Survivors include her daughters, Cortney Kaufman (Jake) and Amy Smith (Chad); her son, Josh Downey; her mother, Adreene Allison Vanas; her grandchildren, Scarlet and Jasper Kaufman; her sisters, Gwynn Powell (Ron) and Shelly Martinez; and her brothers, Adrian Vanas (Denise) and Ryan Vanas (Autumn).

Funeral services will be at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.  Pastor Shane Rodgers will officiate.

Visitation will be after 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
